An AS/RS consists of a variety of computer-controlled methods for automatically placing and retrieving loads of
specific storage locations. Pallets and products move on a system of automated conveyors,cranes and automated
storage and retrieval systems coordinated by programmable logic controllers and computers running logistics
automation software.
Automated Storage and Retrieving Systems(AS/RS) are typically used in applications where:
l Very high volume of loads being moved into and out of storage;
l Storage density is important because of space constraints;
l Accuracy is critical because of potential expensive damages to load;
l Very cold circumstance to keep product from spoiling.
l Clean rooms required in semiconductor production lines etc.
